History

 
According to the popular usage the name of Mulatiyana was originated by changing Mul-Yati-Wanaya to Mulatiyana.

There are evidences, in early ages that Mulatiyana was connected to Sinharaja Forest. The rest of reserved forests mulatiyana and Dewalagama can be seen presently, are revealed that this division was related to Sinharaja. The shrines such as a Mimanagalkanda , Bedde Pansala, Kalugala Pansala , Viharakelaya and Thejowanaramaya Pallewela situated in the division are obvioused that ancient kings also had been related to this area. Ransegoda Division got its name as there was a stupe made by gold in the Ransegoda.
 
 

The name of Makandura was originated because of the kings major camp that is "Mahakandawura" had been located in the Makandura division.
The king Rajasinghe's (II) two soldiers who depected by dutch aggression came and setteld down doladegoda summit of Attupndilikanda. As their houses were built by tree leaves it was called attapathukanda.
 
 
Mulatiyana Ganegoda Viharaya is an anicient temple. It had been donated to venorable Ransegoda Dhammadassi thero by one of his student venarable Lenabatuwa Sharipuththa thero. This temple is belonged to the Ransegoda Bikku descent.
 
 
The commiunity in this division were realy humble and innercent in the past. People who involed the criminal charges were veryfew. They used to live in religions enviroment on temple based society. Unity was a special feachers that could be seen between villages. They lived in harmony though They have been belonged to various cast.
 

When it was middleage of the colonialism, road with then process had been started such as the footpath developed to the Gamsabawa road . In this period only one bus operated for transfortation within the division. In 1950 tar road was advanced to kamburupitiya and Bamunugama from Deiyandara.
